Class: butcher princess / dismemberer gentleman

I didn't know there was an anime with that name until
I was looking for picture, but it is good to know...
This is a tranaslation of a post originally published in 2016. Yes, I do know it is a class for a game that is not translated into English, but the concept is cool and you can adapt it to any other D&D simulacrum.

A class for La Marca Estelar. Slaves of the Elven Empire that won their freedom by surviving the mortal games and are now very well dressed but completely unadapted adventurers.

Requirements: Constitution (CON) 12
Hit Die: 1d8
Class skills: all of them (see below)
Max level: 15
Progression and saves: as the Space marine, but they get one more skill point on even levels

Description

Elves are immortal and, with immortality, also comes boredom and only on thing can remedy it: the excitement of death and slaughter. That's why the Elven Empire is a warlike nation (even for the standards of la Marca Estelar). Whoever, there can't always be war and, to entertain themselves during those brief times of peace, they have something almos as good: the mortal games. Practices, sports and competitions where the death rate is stupidly high and in which they force their slaves to participate. The immense majority are humans*.

Butcher princesses (or dismemberer gentlemen if they are male) are those that have somehow suvived for years to a miriad of these shows: gladiatorial fights, battle royale, laser pistol or sword duels, extreme hunting, ogromachies, murder football, brütalball, rollerball, private field battles, space naumachies, selfduel, mortal rallies, fighter ship races, exteme bull fighting, mecha combat, battle strip-tease... All of it with an spotless attire. With this they have won their freedom, something extremely rare in the Elven Empire, and many of them want to get as much distant as possible from there but still be in the lucrative business of killing for money or "adventuring", as they call it. After all, it's the only life they know.

Weapons and armor

They can use all of them. They are so used to, trained and even bred for combat, that they quickly get familiarity with exotic or alien weapons that they have never used before.

Other traits

Besides knowing how to kill people, successful butcher princess get specialist training that gives them access to all class skills. However, knowing how to repair a vehicle while you shoot is not everything in life. As they spend most of their lives cloistered, fighting only in artificial enviroments, they don't have a lot of basic nature survival skillsand other matters that are necessary for an adventurer.

That means that they can raise their class skills as usual, but they have to spend two advance points to raise by one a general skill.

On the other hand, as many times per combat as their level, they can perform a mortal flourish, a really spectacular and brutal move. This is actually a normal attack without any changes to hit or damage. However, if it is successful, the result is so horrible (the players can describe it themselves) that, even if the objective is not killed, they are left wishing that they were dead. Also, both the objective and all of their allies able to see the attck will have to make a morale roll to avoid running away after the incredible exhibition.

On the other hand, they princesses are so unused to society that they always have a -1 to their reaction rolls with everyone but bloodthirsty savages. And everytime a problem can be solved through murder, slaughter and dismemberment, they must succeed in a roll of Wisdom + level/2 to avoid trying to solve it by murder, slaughter and dismemberment.

Normal clothes gives them +2AC as long as it is elegant, hard to wear and clean. They lose the bonus if they wear any other armor except energy fields.

And also, every time they go up a level (including 1), there is a chance that a galactic TV crew will start following them and their party: exactly 6% multiplied by the level they just got to.

TV crew

In la Marca Stellar reality shows that portray the exciting daily life of adventurers are flourishing. If the PCs have proven to be cool, aggresive and salacious enough some executive will ofer them a juicy contract (especially if they have a butcher princess). If they accept, it will have the following consequences:
  • A couple of camera drones will start following them 24/7, recording everything that happens and giving advice, feedback and executive meddling.
  • They get 1cr per PX they got through actions performed while being recorded by the drones, as their share of the sponsorships.
  • If the drones are destroid, they will be replaced in 1d6 days, but they won't get any money in the meanwhile.
  • If they don't go in a reasonable ammount of adventures each week, their program will be cancelled and they'll get fired.
  • If they spend enough time (around six months) being followed by the cameras, they will develop a public image. Their reaction rolls will have a +1 and hostile creatures with less DG than the players that could have had access to the galactic TV will have to make a morale roll at the start of the encounter to avoid running away.
Thanks for reading. Valmar Cerenor!

*It is unbecoming for elves to participate themselves in the mortal games, as they consider themselves above such simple passtimes. Of course, everyone of them has done it in their youth.
